Update on Support for Ukrainian Families in Aberdeen

We have received this update from the Presbytery of Aberdeen and Shetland.

A big thank you to congregations across Aberdeen who have contributed wonderfully with gifts of time and energy in preparing accommodation, and with the donations of requested items.
This is to give you an update on where we are now in this valuable assistance offered to people in a time of pressing need.

Aberdeen City Council advise that at this stage, sufficient cleaning materials, microwaves and toasters have been donated.
There remains a request for televisions to be donated.

Offering Homes in Aberdeen for People from Ukraine

If you have been considering making space available in your home for refugees from Ukraine, and are not sure how to proceed with this, you may wish to contact the following group who would guide you with various steps: “Aberdeen (and Northern Scotland) hosts for Ukrainian guests” on Face Book.

They have an ever increasing number of followers in Aberdeen city centre and the surrounding area If any of your congregation are keen on welcoming a Ukrainian family (often it’s just mother and child(ren) so often just 2 people), it’s not sufficient to just note your details on the Government’s “Homes for Ukrainians” scheme; you need to approach an organisation like ourselves who have many contacts actually IN Ukraine itself, and we have hundreds of Ukrainian families on our books looking for places to stay.

For those wishing to find out more about “Aberdeen (and Northern Scotland) hosts for Ukrainian guests” the contact person is Corinne Scatterty, e-mail corinnescatterty@gmail.com , tel. no. 07793 554233
